BG 14.15
रजसि प्रलयं गत्वा कर्मसङ्गिषु जायते ।
तथा प्रलीनस्तमसि मूढयोनिषु जायते ॥
तथा प्रलीनस्तमसि मूढयोनिषु जायते ॥
rajasi pralayaṁ gatvā karma-saṅgiṣu jāyate
tathā pralīnas tamasi mūḍha-yoniṣu jāyate
tathā pralīnas tamasi mūḍha-yoniṣu jāyate
Word-for-word meanings
gatvā — on meeting; pralayam — with death; rajasi — in rajas; jāyate — one takes birth; karma-saṅgiṣu — among those attached to action; tathā — similarly; pralīnaḥ — one who dies; tamasi — in tamas; jāyate — takes birth; mūḍha-yoniṣu — in the ignorant species of life.
Translation
If one dies under the influence of rajas, he takes birth among those attached to action; similarly, if one dies when tamas is predominant, he is born among the ignorant species of life.
