या निशा सर्वभूतानां तस्यां जागर्ति संयमी ।
यस्यां जाग्रति भूतानि सा निशा पश्यतो मुनेः ॥
yā niśā sarva-bhūtānāṁ tasyāṁ jāgarti saṁyamī
yasyāṁ jāgrati bhūtāni sā niśā paśyato muneḥ

Word-for-word meanings

saṁyamī — the integrated self;  jāgarti — remains wakeful;  tasyām — to that [awareness of the Self];  yā — which is;  niśā — night;  sarva-bhūtānām — for all living beings;  bhūtāni — [similarly] all beings;  jāgrati — remain awake;  yasyām — to that [phenomenal awareness];  sā — which is;  niśā — night;  paśyataḥ — for the realized;  muneḥ — sage.

Translation

The integrated self remains awake to that [awareness of the Self] which is night* for all conditioned beings. [Similarly,] all conditioned beings remain awake to that [phenomenal awareness] which is night for the realized sage.

Notes

* Night here implies a lack of interest in, or an absence of awareness of, that which absorbs the interest of others. Remaining awake signifies awareness of that which others are asleep to. Kṛṣṇa is pointing out that the interests of the spiritually awakened and the spiritually asleep are opposite, like day and night.
