यदि मामप्रतीकारमशस्त्रं शस्त्रपाणयः ।
धार्तराष्ट्रा रणे हन्युस्तन्मे क्षेमतरं भवेत् ॥

yadi mām apratīkāram aśastraṁ śastra-pāṇayaḥ
dhārtarāṣṭrā raṇe hanyus tan me kṣemataraṁ bhavet

tat — that; bhavet — would be; kṣema-taram — better; me — for me; yadi — if; raṇe — in the battle; dhārtarāṣṭrāḥ — the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra; śastra-pāṇayaḥ — with weapons in hand; hanyuḥ — were to kill; mām — me; aśastram — unarmed; apratīkāram — [and] unresisting.
Translation
It would be better for me if, in the battle, the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra with weapons in their hands, killed me, unarmed and unresisting.
