देही नित्यमवध्योऽयं देहे सर्वस्य भारत ।
तस्मात्सर्वाणि भूतानि न त्वं शोचितुमर्हसि ॥
तस्मात्सर्वाणि भूतानि न त्वं शोचितुमर्हसि ॥
dehī nityam avadhyo ’yaṁ dehe sarvasya bhārata
tasmāt sarvāṇi bhūtāni na tvaṁ śocitum arhasi
tasmāt sarvāṇi bhūtāni na tvaṁ śocitum arhasi
Word-for-word meanings
bhārata — O descendant of Bharata; ayam — this; dehī — embodied self; dehe — [dwelling] in the body; sarvasya — of everyone; nityam — [is] ever; avadhyaḥ — indestructible; tasmāt — therefore; tvam — you; na arhasi — do not deserve; śocitum — to grieve; sarvāṇi — for all; bhūtāni — living beings.
Translation
O descendant of Bharata, the embodied self, dwelling in the bodies of all living beings, is ever indestructible; therefore, you should not grieve for anyone.
