यदा यदा हि धर्मस्य ग्लानिर्भवति भारत ।
अभ्युत्थानमधर्मस्य तदात्मानं सृजाम्यहम् ॥

yadā yadā hi dharmasya glānir bhavati bhārata
abhyutthānam adharmasya tadātmānaṁ sṛjāmy aham
abhyutthānam adharmasya tadātmānaṁ sṛjāmy aham
Word-for-word meanings
bhārata — O descendant of Bharata; yadā yadā hi — whenever at all; bhavati — there occurs; glāniḥ — a decline; dharmasya — of righteousness; abhyutthānam — [and] an uprising; adharmasya — of unrighteousness; tadā — at that time; aham — I; sṛjāmi — manifest; ātmānam — Myself.
Translation
O Bhārata, whenever at all there occurs a decline of righteousness (dharma) and an uprising of unrighteousness, at that time I manifest Myself.
