Reader question

If Jiva is beginningless, why this verse seems to indicate otherwise and use the word "yonini" (source) for living entities ?

The ātmā is beginningless (and also without end). Bodies are not beginningless. Therefore bodies have a cause.
The word 'yoni' means kāraṇa or cause here. The ātmā which is eternal, is one of the two causes of bodies of living beings; the other cause is the eight-fold prakṛti.
