एवं परम्पराप्राप्तमिमं राजर्षयो विदुः ।
स कालेनेह महता योगो नष्टः परन्तप ॥

sa kāleneha mahatā yogo naṣṭaḥ parantapa

Word-for-word meanings
rāja-ṛṣayaḥ — the royal sages; evam — thus; viduḥ — understood; imam — this [yoga of wisdom]; prāptam — received; paramparā — through sacred tradition; parantapa — O Arjuna, scorcher of the enemies; mahatā kālena — over a great lapse of time; saḥ — this; yogaḥ — yoga of wisdom; naṣṭaḥ — was lost; iha — in this world.
Translation
The royal sages thus understood this yoga of wisdom received through sacred tradition. O scorcher of enemies, over a great lapse of time, this yoga was gradually lost to the world.
